A group of ten sentenced of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of circulating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A longstanding unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's identity.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The pair married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
